Default Which has better Numis potential?

To all numis experts out there, can you advise me

1) 2012 SICF 5oz Silver Panda (Medal) Mintage of 2,500 only.

2) 2012 30th Anni 5oz Silver Panda (Coin) Mintage of 30,000.

Which has a better potential? And why do you think so?

This is one of the reason why i did not jump into the SICF panda craze.

WIll wait for more experienced collectors to comment.

Numis has to do with appeal and demand. Mintage is secondary.

Check the market sentiments at ebay

Singapore International Coin Fair 2012 US $709.00

30th anniversary - US $678.00

2012 is a current year. Too early to conclude. Only guesswork which is a gamble
You have to observe over a period of time to "predict" the correct trend but then, trend do change.

This is just my opinion

From your link, the SICF commands a better price right? And considering launch price for SICF is SGD688 & 30th Anni is SGD808. Isn't the SICF a better bet?

If you want to use the word "bet", then it does seemed that way.

However, it is better to look at past few months transactions to get a better idea how it is trending.

Keep the 30th anniversary panda, let go the singapore panda.

Patriotic one side, the 30th anni panda seemed more like an international coin which as long as people keep panda, this could be one of their potential collection.

On the other hand, only people who chase different country coin show panda will go for the SICF panda, if they didn't start the first few coin, they may not start at all.

This is purely my personal opinion. Like what javacoffee said, mintage should not be gauged as the main factor. I can produce a self carved panda coin with mintage of 1, but if nobody else has it, who would want it? Some coin becomes high value with low mintage is mainly due to the speculator who purposely make the coin rare or put out news about it's rarity to "cook" the price.

Scif panda very ugly. No eye appeal unlike the 30th anniversary one.
