After 1year on for this thread and bitcoin is still around and gaining popularity..
Well.. Bitcoin is definitely not a Ponzi scheme, but it does has its fair share of hiccups from time to time at this infant stage.

Collector's dream
PM price ↓ buy my fav gold & silver coins!
Bitcoin price ↓ buy in more btc!
Wine price ↓ Buy Low Drink High!!

when the internet was first invented, people thought of it as a den of thieves, child pornographers and full of scam.
until today, the internet is still full of these , but it's still the greatest invention ever.

now a bunch of programmers came out with 100 lines of computer code trying to solve the world economic problem. of course there will be people who will call it a ponzi, a scam, terrorist funding, money laundering ...
but eventually it will be used for good.

here are the 3 phases of the internet.
1st phase = websites
2nd phase = social media
3rd phase = transfer of value..

that is why apple created apple pay and there are also so many payments systems being created.

The thing that was totally innovative is not bitcoins, it was actually the blockchain, which is an open distributed ledger.
any payments ever made will be recorded in this open ledger. People are discovering ways to use this technology, bitcoin was just the first app.
soon they will put smart contracts into the blockchain, things like voting systems, wedding registrations, decentralized cloud storage, decentralised computing.

some say why cant we develop the blockchain without bitcoins?
it cant, cos bitcoins is a way to incentivise participants who contribute computing power to verify transactions and to hold the open ledger.
without incentives, nobody will participate.

honestly, until today nobody really knows how much currency is printed or how much gold is mined, the central banks and comex keep the books...
some even buy gold out of comex. straight from the miners..
now for bitcoin, not only do they decentralise the currency, they also decentralised the book-keeping duties..10 years from today come again to this thread and read my opinion...

I personally think bitcoin will be the ultimate weapon to finally beat the bankers..

revisiting this poll...
so i am the only strong supporter... 3 years telling people about bitcoin, getting ridiculed, lost some frens, made some frens, being laughed at..

i am the one making money now?

http://fortune.com/2016/12/28/bitcoin-2016-currency/

those 11 who said it was a ponzi scheme 3 years ago... amateur hour?

The problem is all of us stackers always get influenced by those so-called 'gurus',
In sites like silverdoctors, king world news etc. These clowns always swear by PMs only, everything else are the products of the banksters, the cabal, the deep state etc etc.
So we all become biased towards anything that is not real money, hence the deep mistrust in bitcoin at the start as all the experts proclaimed it to be hackable n not something tangible that you can hold or feel like physical gold n silver.
Silly us. Now all cryptos flying to the moon so we all lan2 just watch from the sidelines. This is the trouble with this concept of a 'self-fulfilling prophecy'! So yes, moyyewhon. You are the only smart guy who bgt it early n cheap. Kudos to you! For me, I did tell others to buy bitcoin but didn't do so myself because am typical old school and computer illerate.

I don't think it's too late to get on board the train. Thanks to moy and some others, I was convinced to jump on some cryptos and they're performed rather well.

Just want to clarify that it's good to diversify into cryptos, seeing how metals have been languishing for awhile

i'm still bullish on silver and i expect it to be SGD300 above.
For Cryptos. the hottest thing now is ICOs... it is the same as IPOs but run on the blockchain (the technology behind bitcoin)

I was on the fences on this one basically because I have no idea where to go about to do the transaction and/or was afraid getting into a fraud platform

good, bitcoin is for tech investors or high risk takers and probably not a suitable investment for you.
